We are looking for a Mechanic to join our team at our Cortland, NY location.

A mechanic is an essential employee to our garage. The workforce at this location is small so a can-do attitude and team player mindset is most important! A mechanic will be responsible for repairing and diagnosing vehicle problems based on needs, troubleshooting and maintain to OEM specification used in lumber sawmill manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

· Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule services.

· Perform tires, brakes, suspension, drive lines and electrical repairs.

· Complete general repairs on all types of heavy-duty vehicles and trailers.

· Diagnose equipment based on inspection and maintain for improved reliability and up-time.

· Desire to continue seeking training classes and ASE Certifications.

· Perform major component repair and overhauls of truck fleet.

· Maintain service truck and all shop equipment.

· Must be attentive, responsible, goal oriented, and safety minded.

· Understanding of welding and fabrication would be beneficial.

· Service and maintain all shop equipment.

· Must be flexible with work hours (road calls, or calling for broken equipment)

Qualifications:

· Must be capable of climbing stairs.

· Strong communication and customer service skills.

· May be required to lift boards/equipment ranging in weight from 25 – 100 lbs.

· Requires repetitive twisting, turning, standing, and bending safely.

· Must be capable of working in all types of weather as this is an outdoor position.

Preferred qualifications:
3-5 years heavy equipment mechanical equipment experience preferred

CDL not required but preferred
BOCES training in Heavy Equipment Repair or Military Maintenance and or mechanical courses preferred
Trained & ASE Certification preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $17.00 - $26.00 per hour
