We are looking for a Lumber Inspector
Inspecting and assigning grades to green lumber before it gets sorted. While following NHLA and Gutchess grading guidelines and following standard operating procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Quality control/ changeovers sorter system
· Follow wane and heavy stock limits
· Take charge of changeovers and combining packs
· Safety, quality, and production of the entire crew
· Verify lengths and thicknesses are correct
· Get manager if any issues arise
· Must do wood quality sheets at the end of each run or day
· Audits of consistency and accuracy
· Correct identification and assignment of grade to lumber
SAFETY
· Uses proper lifting techniques, particularly when handling 8/4 & thicker, 13’ & longer lumber.
· Uses care to prevent pinch point and strain injuries
· Must be able to achieve and sustain an production pace enabling the accomplishment of goals.
- May be required to lift boards/equipment ranging in weight from 25 – 100 lbs.
- Must be capable of climbing stairs.
· This will require repetitive frequent twisting, turning, and bending
Housekeeping:
· Held accountable for the housekeeping in area along with assigned PM
Personal Protective Equipment:
· Steel toed work boots
· Head protection
· Ear protection
Pre-assignment Training:
· Must be competent in the use of a tape measure
· Grading training completed
Qualifications
- Quality control experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in conducting quality audits and inspections
- Strong analytical skills for quality analysis and assurance
- Knowledge of quality management systems and QA/QC processes
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers
- Understanding of ISO standards and FDA regulations related to quality control

- Night shift
